Please Tell Me This Is Not Real

I really hope this is not real because I’m not sure I can, or want, to hear about this. It just seems to be boiling under the Manti Te’o craziness and impending Lance Armstrong confessional. At any rate, here it is…that beacon of journalism, The National Enquirer, is reporting that Tiger Woods is trying to win back his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren. From a story on foxsports.com:

According to the National Enquirer, Woods wants to remarry Nordegren and he’s offering a huge chunk of change to get her back. The magazine also reports that Tiger even proposed to her over Christmas, getting down on one knee and presenting Nordegren with a ring.

Ugh…not that I have anything against Elin or Tiger. And I suppose a happily ever after is great for their kids but…[exasperated sigh]. The report continues:

Nordegren is reportedly considering the proposal from Woods, who is desperate to get Nordegren back, but wants a $350 million anti-cheating clause added to the contract.

Woods’ proposed deal reportedly is worth over half of his estimated $600 million fortune.

“Tiger didn’t even balk at the demand. Even though his accountants think he’s crazy, he’s ready to sign the pre-nup and set a wedding date,” a source told the magazine.

Nordegren already won about $100 million in their 2010 divorce settlement with Woods after his numerous affairs became public.

I should also note that there is no link to this story on The National Enquirer’s website and a search for “Tiger Woods” or “Elin Nordegren” returns no links this story. However, both the foxsports.com story and a story from the British tabloid The DailyMail cite The National Enquirer.

I’m going to take a shower…
